The regeneration of Gascoigne East Estate aims to build a safer area for the community, deliver over 1,500 new homes with a mix of affordability and tenures, and welcome a new secondary school for 1,850 pupils and primary school for 690 pupils.
Phase 2 of the regeneration is part of an approved masterplan which comprises four phases over an anticipated ten-year period between 2015 and 2025. The phases include: Phase 1 which was completed in February 2018, Phase 2 which Soundings consulted on,
and Phases 3 & 4.
Since September 2018, Soundings have been engaging with local residents and community stakeholders across the Gascoigne Estate to gather ideas and share information about the plans for Phase 2 of the Gascoigne East Estate and wider masterplan.
Phase 2 of Gascoigne East includes plans for a new public park, residential courtyards and improved public realm. These key elements became the focus of our engagement process, with special attention being paid to young people in the area. Ideas and thoughts were generated through a range of workshops attended by pupils from two schools on the estate. Together, we took part in an estate wide walk and talk, meanwhile use workshop, meanwhile use walk and talk, and open spaces design workshop, leading to a wide-range of concepts and ideas for consideration by Be First.
Following engagement, a Reserved Matters Application was submitted in February 2019.
