Megumi Kamiya

12 October 1999

Megumi is a landscape architect and urban designer, having worked in a variety of residential and commercial projects in Washington D.C., Virginia, and Bolivia.

Megumi’s interest lies in city dialogues that de/entangle climate change, urban ecologies, and public participation. As a life-long learner at heart, she seeks to incorporate curious creativity, active empathy, and collaborative thinking into everything that she does.

Prior to joining Soundings, she completed her Master’s in City Design and Social Science at the London School of Economics. Upon graduating, she conducted research analysis for the Council of Urban Initiatives launch, a partnership between LSE Cities, UCL, and UN-Habitat which aimed to encourage progressive policy-making at the city level. During her undergraduate studies, Megumi participated in design charrettes with rural communities in southern Virginia, and collaborated in cross-disciplinary prototype research at Virginia Tech.
