Shatha joined Soundings to explore people-centered approaches to urban design and planning practices after completing her Masters’ degree in Anthropology, in which she specialized in urban ethnography and political urbanism.

Prior to this, Shatha worked as an architectural designer on a variety of small-scale and large masterplanning projects across cultural, historical, and destination-design sectors in Jordan and the MENA region. During that time, she has developed a keen interest in context-led design and placemaking.

During her time at Soundings, she has supported the public engagement programmes for several strategic urban projects including Silvertown in east London, Old Oak West & Park Royal Development, and the Basingstoke Regeneration Project.
